AAA-10 is an orally active inhibitor of gut bacterial bile salt hydrolases (BSH). It selectively inhibits bacterial BSH enzymes, showing IC50s of 10 nM against B. theta rBSH and 80 nM against B. longum rBSH, and has demonstrated inhibition of bile acid deconjugation in vitro and reduced levels of secondary bile acids (DCA, LCA) in mouse models after oral dosing.
